why I have just removed the lyrics

On my vintage site I had had some lyrics from more or less well known soul and jazz songs. Some of them like the ones from Emma Hutchinson’s album Hummingbirds were sent to me by the artist to publish them on my site. And of course it should be obvious for everyone that I am not the writer of any song lyrics that ever appeared on this site. But, I live in Germany and there are some attorneys here who are sending invoices to people living in Germany who published various song lyrics on their website. In German it’s called Abmahnung and I’m not sure if dissuasiveness or dissuasion is the right translation after all I’m not a lawyer. You find more information written in German here or here. The lyrics featured here may be more obscure than the ones the lawyers want money for but I really can’t afford to pay 1600,57 euros for every song. Yep, that’s the ammount they want to have which is even more record labels claim for songs shared via p2p. To avoid any trouble I’ve just delete the folders on my site that contained the lyrics. This just sucks! Could someone please explain the music publishers and lawyers here in Germany that offering song lyrics on a website is just another form of promotion?!

First of all, go and buy a new shift-key. Yours seems to be out of work. And writing in capital letters only is the same as screaming all the time. Secondly, this is no club and I don’t write any lyrics or songs. This site is just about reviewing music and telling the world of artists who deserve wider recognition.

In England and America I believe they’re called “cease-and-desist” letters. They are informal warnings that precede a lawsuit. I’m very sorry to hear this, by the way!

    Hi Cherokee,

I saw your video I Swear about 4 months ago on BET J and love it. Your passion comes through intensely and the rainbow color of men looked good too! I up load the video fanatically. It’s 2007 and I play the song like it came out yesterday. I really love it!
