]]> by: Holger http://blog.jazz-not-jazz.com/archives/2005/09/06/mica-paris-soul-classics/#comment-381 Fri, 09 Sep 2005 17:34:40 +0000 http://blog.jazz-not-jazz.com/archives/2005/09/06/mica-paris-soul-classics/#comment-381 Wonderful that Mica´s releasing a new Soul-Album - even when they´re "only" covers. the background behind from this years earlier release "if u could love me" is: this album contains material from the recording session to the un-released album "18 month & 26 days"; which was never released due to differences between mica & the producer. so i´m not aware if this material was newly recorded or released by the old producer. best thing on this record is, that the worst songs, written by gerry de vaux, etc, were not take over to that. if anyone had ever listen to songs like "amazed" (which was only released as a promocds with mixes) - you know what i mean. tips to these release: "if you could love me", "i´m not your mother" and "i´ll never say i love you again". all in al, this is a very laid back one. stylish into slow & uptempo r´n`b and ballads. but i do hope, that the vocal on the new release will be better fecorded and miore "stand alone" as on this one here. another tip: mica recorded a duet for jimmy barnes´s (of aussies "cold chisel") new album: "double happiness" called "run".
